What grade do you learn addition?

Your child will learn to count before they begin to learn addition.  Counting can begin as soon as your child is ready to learn about simple numbers.  In kindergarten, students learn to count forward and backward and to skip count.  They also begin to understand how to combine single-digit numbers to find a total.  In first grade, students will work on single-digit and double-digit addition problems.   Between kindergarten and fourth grade, students will begin to learn to solve advanced addition equations with re-grouping by carrying forward.
