Should a 3 year old know the alphabet?

Most children begin learning some of the letters of the alphabet when they are 2 - 3 years old.  Each child learns and develops at their own pace.  It is important to work with your child each day on basic letter sounds and names. Make learning fun by singing alphabet songs and playing games.  Set up a scavenger hunt for your child and help them to find objects in their spaces that start with the letters they are working on.
